Charlotte, N.C. — A homicide investigation is underway after a 15-year-old boy died two days after being found shot near a north Charlotte apartment complex Friday night, detectives say.
On February 18th around 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a call for service at apartments on Mallard Park Drive.
Officers say at the scene they located one victim with an apparent gunshot wound lying outside near the apartments.
Charlotte Fire and Medic also responded to assist, and took the gunshot victim to a local hospital with life-threatening-injuries.
Police say due to the seriousness of the injuries, Homicide Unit detectives were notified and responded to the scene to investigate.
On February 20th, the 15-year-old boy was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Police say they are now investigating this case officially as a homicide.
The boy’s name will not been released due to his age.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
