The sluggish cutoff low that has been sitting over the central portions of the country has slowly lifted northwards, but that hasn’t done much to change the wet pattern for us today. While there is light at the end of the tunnel, expect another cloudy and soggy day as we close out the workweek. Once again, the best rain chances remain west of the Metro, but many locations should see a few showers before our Friday is done. Off-and-on rain continues into the first half of our Saturday before some clearing arrives by the evening. Sunny skies and warmer highs return on Sunday, which could lead to a week chock full of the 80s around the Queen City as we head into the heart of October.

The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor an area just off of the Carolina coastline for tropical development. Chances are now at 30% through the next five days, but homegrown systems around the Carolinas tend to overperform. The next, and final, name on the 2021 primary list is Wanda.
