CHARLOTTE, N.C — A 41-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in northwest Charlotte Wednesday night, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Officers responded around 11 p.m. to the intersection of Hovis Road and Northern Drive after a reports of a crash. Upon arrival, they found a motorcycle with front-end damage and a Freightliner tractor with a trailer attached to it.
Police said that the motorcyclist, identified as Jeremy Green, was found in the road suffering from serious injuries and pronounced dead at the scene.
Through an initial investigation it was revealed that the Freightliner, driven by 33-year-old Scotty Culbertson, was stopped on Northern Drive attempting to make a left turn onto Hovis Road when they crossed into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the driver-side front tire of the Freightliner.
Impairment and speed are suspected as contributing factors to this crash, police said.
The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing.
