DAVIDSON, N.C. —  A historic church property is vandalized and the suspects are caught on camera.

Church leaders in Davidson say they want to make sure the teens responsible for the crime are punished.

Davidson Police say 7 young people vandalized the historic Lingle Hut Fellowship Hall on the property of Reeves Temple AME Zion Church.  Surveillance video shows the teens walking into the building and then later walking out.

The church says the teens used a fire extinguisher and sprayed it all over the inside of the building, and wrote graffiti on the floor.

“If they’re bold enough to come into this building, is anything going to happen to our church?  At this point, we just want what we believe to be fair,” says Reverend Anthony Davis, Pastor of Reeves Temple AME Zion Church.

Davidson Police say an 18-year-old and six juveniles are responsible for the crime.  They turned the case over to the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office, and it’s now being reviewed by the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
