The first full week of October was a wet one for many of us, but we’re back to the warm sunshine this weekend. A few stubborn showers continue to roll across the High Country, but rain chances will be nowhere in sight for our Sunday. Expect sunny skies to continue throughout much of the week ahead, as temperatures cruise into the 80s in the Piedmont, while our mountains enjoy the balmy upper 60s and 70s. A few rain chances are possible mainly east of the Metro on Monday and Tuesday, but most communities will remain dry through next weekend.
The rain chances east of I-77 early next week are due to an area of low pressure developing off of the Carolina coast. The National Hurricane Center has now given the system a 50% of becoming Tropical Storm Wanda this weekend. The good news is that, other than a few gusty showers, impacts in the western half of the Carolinas remain minimal. The storm is expected to move out to sea over the next few days, regardless of development.
