Hot, humid, and stormy: three words to describe our first week of May.

April is going out on the same note it’s held for the past three weeks: a gorgeous one. Temperatures are holding around 80° in the Piedmont and Foothills this Saturday, pairing nicely with mostly sunny skies. Isolated showers and storms are mainly staying north of the viewing area, setting us up for a beautiful evening. Enjoy the fantastic weather while it lasts! Our fortunes will change heading into the first week of May.

The first half of our Sunday, May 1st, keeps the ball rolling with sunny skies and summer-like warmth. However, things start to go downhill in a hurry. A line of showers and storms associated with a cold front arrives from the west by the mid-afternoon, which could throw a wrench in your Sunday dinner plans. Rainfall looks scattered at best (40% range), but some localized spots could end up with a quick deluge. Our stormy Sunday sets the tone for a rough week ahead, with heat, humidity, and pop-up storms all coming into play.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Low: 59°. Wind: SE 5-10.

Monday: Feeling like summer. High: 85°. Wind: SW 5-10.
