Rain and snow stole the show Sunday afternoon, but we’ll need to watch out for strong storms later this week.

The Metro may have seen its warmest day in over a month on Saturday, but winter let us all know who’s still boss this Sunday. Many spots have dropped nearly 30° over the past 24 hours as rain and snow swept through the Piedmont. Temperatures will steadily rebound over the week ahead, but don’t expect warm weather for Valentine’s Day. Highs will top out in the lower 50s, giving you a perfect excuse to snuggle your significant other a little closer. Bright sunshine and a steady warm-up carry through the first half of the week before a strong cold front arrives by Thursday.

This time around, we’re not talking about snow. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for the first time this year, and some of them could be strong. It’s too early for specific details, but we’ll need to watch Thursday for the potential for severe weather. Stay tuned!

Tonight: Clearing out. Cold. Low: 28°. Wind: NW 5-10.

Valentine’s Day: Plentiful sunshine. Below-average highs. PM clearing. High: 54°. Wind: W 5-10.

Monday Night: Another chilly night. Low: 30°. Wind: NE 5-10.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. A bit warmer. High: 56°. Wind: SE 5-10.
